There will be a meeting in the Village Hall on Friday 1 April at 6 pm to consider what we, as a village, might do to celebrate the Royal Wedding on 29 April. All are welcome.
The Parish Council AGM
will be held in the Village Hall on Friday 27 May at 7.30 pm.
Barton Village Hall
The Referendum on the voting system for Parliament will take place in the Village Hall,
as a Polling Station, on Thursday 5 May.
Mr Soden & Son, Chimney Sweeps
Mr Soden and his son have kindly agreed to sweep chimneys in the village on Wednesday 8 June.
I shall send a circular round the village shortly about this.

St Lawrence Church
The Reverend Hugh Williams gave an excellent sermon on 13 March based on the reading from the Gospel according to St Matthew Chapter 4, when Christ fasteth, is tempted and overcometh. We also had the pleasure of Julian Grimshaw as organist.
The next PCC meeting will be on Tuesday 12 April at 4.30 pm in the Village Hall.

St Lawrence Church
We had the pleasure of John Stanley leading Morning Prayer on 13 April. His theme was: ‘Jesus is the good shepherd’.
A damp-proof concrete floor has been installed in the old boiler room at St Lawrence. This will enable the room to be used to store the myriad things that are currently stored in the tower and get in the way there.

Mobile Library
The mobile library makes two visits to the western side of our Benefice on 6 May and 27 May. The van, which is called Titania, visits Great Wolford at 9.45, then Barton-on-the-Heath at 10.15, and then 3 separate stops in Long Compton between 10.40 and 12.55.

Other recent events in the Village Hall included hoisting a flag up the new flagpole to celebrate St George’s day on 23 April,

and an illustrated talk about Sightsavers International, which provides treatment in the world’s poorest countries to help restore lost sight, on 25 April.
Parish Council
The Parish Council met on 18 April. A full report will be published in the June LINK. The Council wishes to thank John Leck of Barton Hill Farm for repairing the village bench besides the bus shelter.
In spite of continued efforts since July 2007 to get the missing road signs in the village replaced by Warwick Highways Division, nothing has yet transpired.
